I reciently bought a PSP off of e-bay. As soon as I bought it, I bought games for it as well. Once I got the PSP though, I spent forever trying to figure out why it won't upgrade past version 2.6. I'm a total noobie when it comes to anything to do with PSPs in general, being as my first time ever even thouching one was about a week ago (I'm more of a Xbox 360 or Wii guy).
I ended up being able to install v2.71 on my PSP (so it is v2.71 right now). It won't go into the 3.0s though, which is of course what I need it to do in order to play Tales of the World.
What I've found from the reading I've been doing, is that apparently my key #5 is bad. (DRNFFFFFFCD = key 0x5 header is not "g k l C" )
Anyway, I've been trying to get this keycleaner program and IdStorageManager as well, however to no avail (the error i get is: The game could not be started. (80020148)). From the reading I've done, I've figured out its because you have to run H.E.N.
So, I've downloaded this H.E.N.D program. I put the contents of the MS_ROOT folder into my memory stick root. When I go to my PHOTO option on my PSP, I scroll down to the HEND folder, press X, and then press START on the RAND JPG image. The static picture shows up for about 10 seconds, and then it goes back to my PSP's normal menu, still selected on the RAND picture. If I understand the installation process correctly (I may not, which may be the problem), the screen is supposed to flash blue and then either red or green, right? Mine isn't doing that at all, it always just goes back where I was when I pressed START. I'll hard restart it and try it again (I've done this 30ish times) and it still will not flash. The closest I've gotten it to doing anything is that it has frozen up one time. Oh, by the way, I do have a custom wallpaper that is being used, I've read that that is supposed to help.
I should note, in the HEND that I downloaded are two folders (checkworks and devhook) which I have not put anywhere, because I haven't read anything about those. I know devhook is some kind of other program, but as far as I understand it, it doesn't have anything to do with getting keycleaner or IdStorageManager to work. I honestly have no idea what the checkworks folder is about.
More or less, what I can't figure out is why my screen won't flash like its supposed to when I select this RAND image. I've got to be doing something wrong, I'm just not sure where I'm screwing up.
Can someone please help me figure out what it is I'm doing wrong for HEN not to be installing itself? I've spent a lot of time trying to read up on this and figure it out, but I've gotten so frustruated that I would really just appreciate some help. Also If you want to point me to a specific HEN that you know works, I'll download it and give it a shot too. I've tried about 3 or 4 different ones, as well as an e loader program, but they all do the same thing for me; look at the picture for 10 seconds and go back to my regular screen without flashing green or red.
