Not too sure about emulators and all but in the PC gaming world, games are more demanding on the GPU than the CPU.

With emulators, the cpu is a lot more important, as it is the one emulating a gamecube/w.e environment.

I know Dolphin can run some commercial games, but not perfectly. There are still some speed issues, which is why they say to use the best you can get. A low-end card may be able to handle it just fine. The problem is that Gamecube emulation as a whole is not entirely perfect yet. So I'm sure there are ways for GCN emus to run faster by fixing simple programming issues.

I have a 2.4ghz dualcore and Ionly got like 2 or 3 fps.
Thats why I ask. I was hopeing quad cores will make the dolphin usable.

ps2 emulation is far from perfect, so it's not suprising the GC isn't emulated well, yet.

as for dolphin, the website says you need to be running xp 64bit or vista 64bit for the latest build. you're probably getting single digit fps because you're most likely running a 32bit OS. it's not worth upgrading the OS to get a emulator running, unless you dual boot.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .
