I recently got a vga cable to play my xbox 360 on my monitor now I am wondering what the best way to get sound out. I have some desktop speakers which I really like so I was wondering if there is a way to convert the component signal(red and white input) to a 3.5mm headphone jack the kind used by desktop speakers. THanks for any suggestions on this topic.

You should be able to pick up an adapter like this at just about any store. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index....rentPage=search Just run your vga audio into it and plug it into your sound card.

my vga cables came with one...they were the microsoft branded cables...clearance at toys r us for $7.98

and just because i feel like being picky today, LOL

The red and white cables are not component cables. Component cables are the red, blue, and green cables used for the video.
The red and white cables are known as RCA cables for the analog audio signel.
