I tried to make a backup copy of Call of Duty, & it works, AS LONG AS I have CLONECD installed. But I uninstalled CLoneCD & now the backup of the game will not work. I'm sure it will work if I reinstall CloneCD. But I hate to buy a software that my games depend on. My guess is it didn't make a true backup copy, How do I make a true backup copy of this game.
I have Plextor PX-708A & also have Nero 5.5.10.54, for burning

Keith, I used CloneCD & the protection is safedisc 3.10. I don't have JUST a dvd-rom or cd-rom. I have a teac cdrw burner & a Plextor px-708a. both have latest firmware.

Because you were playing the backup in your Plex PX-708A, right? Remember when backing up Safedisc 2.5- 3.10 that if you play the backup in any burner, you need the aid of ATIP tool such as CloneCD's "hide cd-r", other wise the backup will fail to play.
To determin if you've made a true backup of Safedisc 2.51-3.10 you need to play the backup in a dvd\cd-rom.

Ok... I successfully backed up Disc1 of COD with Alcohol 120... are both discs protected with Safedisc ... or just the play disc... I can get disc 2 to cleanly create an image... it has read errors all the way through th disc... can I just ignore the errors and still burn a copy that works...

Hi MarvelFan, I made a backup of COD using CloneCD with ZERO errors, I suggest if you gonna burn one that had errors use a CDRW that way you don't make a coaster, I use a Plextor Px-708A for the backup & only have burners so I always have a ATIP installed & running, all this way in thanks to Shoey, he was a GREAT help.

jaydee123,
Any chance you can install your backups of COD on another pc that has a dvd\cd-rom to determine if you made a 1:1 backup or if your backups require emulation.? ("CloneCD's hide cd-r")=play in burner. In the write process, did you select "ignore weak sectors or amplify weak sectors."?

Yes. Why? Because I'm seriously considering pruchasing the Plex PX-708A dvd burner but need confirmation that it can backup Safedisc 3.10. I'll have to break the "piggy bank" and eat soup& crackers for a month, quit smoking and live without my Mt. Dew should I decide to go with the Plex PX-708A... It would be of great help if you can test your COD backups on another pc that has a dvd\cd-rom.

Shoey, that's what I thought you thinking of doing, I will bug my friend a little more, & let him borrow my COD backup for the test. I payed $269.00 plus 15% tax in CDN funds for the Plextor px-708a, what are the prices where you live???? I'll let you know as soon as I do.

Shoey, here is what I did, I used my old computer for the test, I put the backup copy of COD SafeDisc 3.10 & it won't read the disc. I know it reads CDR's but it's having a problem reading the backup. But I found that this backup wasn't the greatest, so I was going to make a another backup using my CDRW disc, but that cd-rom will not recognize the type of disc. Remember, its about 7 years old. But will read CDR's go figure ehh???
So I will have to depend on my friend for the test, but hey... I tried.
