Hey guys,

PS2 guy here and I just bought a Wii. It hasn't come in the mail yet and I been trying to do some research on Wii mods and how to play my back-ups.

I'm a bit lost right now in the whole Wii scene. I learn so far that the Wii key is the way to go. Can anyone else post up links to help new people like me start learning more?

New - Wii? You'll have no chance of wiikey.

Argon, D2Pro, Wasabi - I'd pick one of those if you've no idea... Use search for more info cos threads on "best modchip" have been done time and again and those are the chips of the moment. Also any other relevant info is in the stickies.

JuniR is right, however, IMHO, you really should start by checking the S/N to determine the chipset, even thought it is 99.999999% sure that you have a D2C.

I am right where DTN107 is at. I went to ^^ that website and it shows
Your Drive Chip is most likely GC2-D2C.

Your Drive Pins are most likely not cut.

What does it mean by drive pins not cut?

Cut drive pins make it more difficult to attach a modchip. By removing legs from the main drive board chip that are used for modchips but not used for normal wii functions nintendo made it more difficult to mod the consoles. You have to dremmel away part of the drive chip to expose the traces of the legs and solder to those.

Only d2b drive chips had cut legs though. If you have a d2c you dont need to worry about it.

Heard Wasabi at the top for newer chipsets

If you had an old one then that would be Wii key

Everyone has one so its easier to find info on etc.

Everyone just likes helping each other out
