PlayStation Home gets delayed once again

article published on 22 April, 2008

Sony Computer Entertainment said this morning that the oft-delayed PlayStation Home community online service was to be delayed again, marking the third official delay since the service was announced. The service was initially announced in July 2007 and promised to "provide users with the ability to create their own avatars and participate in a real-time virtual world," something like ... [ read the full article ]

I'm sorry but i don't think he understands this issue clearly. How in the hell can you have you network for your console to come out 2 years after your system was released this is poor planning on Sony part & they should be ripped for this.H.O.M.E should have been in its final Beta stages DEC of 06.

This is a common business practice that all these big fortune 500 companies share. Ship it before the product is finished...we don't care if it's broke.

Dell, Hp, Sony, Microsoft..they all do it.

Im a Sony fan all of the way but this is getting old. My Kids want this and this was one of the reasons for my wife not giving me a hard time about buying the PS3. I got my PS3 In December 06 and have been waiting for it since. I do not want them to dump unfinished product on me but give what good stuff that you do have.

would you prefer to wait for all future developments to be made before getting your hands on the PS3 then? im thankful that iv had all this time with the PS3 and theres just more things to look forward too, no product like this is ever "finished"!
On the subject of the delay it does not surprise me at all, dont really care either, we will get it when we get it! just dont think about it too much and it will be a nice surprise when it arrives!

Language people, if this is for 12 year olds and under there might be a couple reading this thread.

Sounds like Playstation Home will have as much luck as Windows Vista Home. But really why would they call it PSHome?

Delays mean it will be better right? (Not always the case) I'd rather have a delayed product then a crap product.

the ps3 was just not ready to be released just the same as blu-ray, competition was more important that a finished product but at the expense of loyal customers, who is actually going to purchase a ps4 at launch now after the price of the ps3 dropped by over £80 in the uk 4 weeks after launch?

home delayed "again" what a surprise but they are probably troubleshooting the target add system that home will employ to generate income for sony, will sony pass any benefits onto their "loyal" customers as nintendo do with their star rewards system, i seriously doubt it.

Sony opens up PS3 advertising

Sony's opening up of its in-game advertising platform will spark a battle among Double Fusion, IGA and AdScape.

According to an Advertising Age article, Sony will offer an open platform on the PlayStation 3, allowing the three key players in the in-game advertising market to strike deals with game publishers.

Sony already has its own PlayStation Network sales force to sell dynamic ads in Sony-produced games such as Pain.

Sony signed a deal with Nielsen last summer to measure in-game advertising and hired Darlene Kindler, formerly of AdScape, to oversee its in-game advertising efforts with an emphasis on Home.
if you love being tracked across the net and having all your details sold and having pop up targeted ads, enjoy sony's "home" if it ever gets released!

PlayStation is a format meaning that it transcends many devices -- PSOne, PS2, and now PS3."

"If the developer wrote the game according to our technical requirements checklist, we will have what we believe will be almost perfect backwards compatibility. There will be some exceptions, there always are, but we believe those will be very few and far between. Even less so than we saw from PSOne to PS2."

[The PS3 will have] almost perfect backwards compatibility. There will be some exceptions, but we believe those will be even less than we saw from PSOne to PS2.

@ CrowDUDE

you know that you can purchase the 360 bundle with gta4 in the UK for £159.99.

It doesn't really matter to me, I'm in the HOME beta, and from what I can see, HOME is nowhere near ready. I'm going to say as much as possible without breaking my contract as a beta tester. It has some bugs and stuff and it's stable, but to handle the HUGE amount of traffic and handle the large amount of people (10,000 all at one time), I think it won't handle it. We had a HOME meeting with a HOME dev, and 100 people cause all the mics to go out of control. I say, better delayed than have it come out to the masses as trash.

Who cares!!!

I can only imagine a loser sittin' around playing with his "Avatar". People have wayyyyyyy too much time on their hands if dedicating their lives to this garbage.

Honestly................this is no doubt for 8 year olds so pat yourself on the back if you're over the age of 8 and participating because that's your mentality. HA HA HA

you may want to read the ars review before you spend your cash on a demo and that you have another 5gig spare on your hard drive as its another install job!!

A $40 demo? A review of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue

as a follow on from my post here is a review of mario cart wii from arstechnica.

Racing à la Kart: a review of Mario Kart Wii

With a huge array of courses, refined mechanics, online play, and more, Mario Kart Wii is one of the best racers around. And given that Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is still warm in our PS3s, that's saying a lot.

I could care less. I think its the best.

My Review:

It's only $40. You get what you pay for, and I am definitely satisfied with that. If you want to complain about it, then do it somewhere else.

Can't wait for GT5 '09 :)

LMAO, I loved GameSpot's review on it."It's only a Prologue." I wonder how many detectives and analysts it took the to figure that one out, as it states it in the damn title :P

Seeing as prologue has more cars and as many tracks as some racers out there I don't understand why people are complaining, especially when it is $20 cheaper than those other "full" games. And better to have Home work and work well than a half released piece of crap that they would have to constantly upgrade. Better to take a minor hit for delaying it than a huge hit from releasing before it is ready.

God hates console fan boys.
