I Think the fimrware version is 3.71 when i goto system information it says System Version 3.71 im guessing thats the firmware version ( im looking for confirmation ). and i read somewhere a that the TAO-28 Motherboard or something causes it to be semi-bricked how do i tell what version board i have and then how would i update it to the Custom Firmware and what firmware would you recomend? Im following a guide on how to upgrade from a version 1.5 to a custom version so would that mean i would have to downgrade it to a 1.5 and then upgrade it to the custom firmware. I want to play ROM's ex SNES, N64, PSX, and play UMD backups ( what firmware do you reccomend that can do that )? Thank you very much. It is a fat PSP

I can't seem to find the edit button so anyway, I was just reading that some games perform a firmware update when they are booted how can this be prevented and will it break the PSP if it happens? Thanks again P.S. I found the edit button

fat, its slim enough...doesn't break.....much cheaper to buy....with an overclocked fat you'll be seeing better performance then a slim....the fat is easier to mod+easier to get CFW on+.....the fat is slim enough to start off with LOL

look for an old psp with a firmware below 3.10, then you can mod it without a pandoras battery:)
