HELLO, I JUST THOUGHT THAT THIS AREA NEEDED SOME CONTRAVERSY..SO HERE GOES...Ive been in photography since I was 15 im middle aged now...and Im bored senseless about megapixel this and that...its junk...am i expected to believe that a grid of pixels or tiny squares in an ordered pattern is going to be better than the randomness of tiny bits of grain? of course not.heres an example..many years ago i was in hyde park at the queen concert there and at night.i had one of those cheap russian slr camera's, standard lens, no flash, daylight film and im at the back not even in the crowd oh and in b/w. too.i take some snaps..process the film and guess what theres an image so tiny you nearly miss it.ok, aim enlarger at wall, make a print.i did and theres the late mr mercury like a white ghost.point is this had i had digital all i would get it one pixel if im lucky...i didnt have a telephoto or zoom..but i got a photo out of it. now since ive scanned that same photo..its now pixel happy..in fact if increase the dpi it could even be finer..the other week i picked up a canon A1 for £60 off a market stall..i got some film for it..and you get these snobs at jessops who sneer at you as you dont have the latest digital biscuit tin or fag packet as half of them look like now.
its stopped being an art its more of a convenience this digital -the instantness -the ability to DELETE!! i even heard that as a selling point..bizarre..so yes i have a dinky little nikon..my snapper. my toy camera..but major stuff the fact that it has got to be processed and only 24 or 36 frames makes the discipline all the more to strive for..make sure you got exposure/focus film speed..look- you are making a photo -as opposed to taking a photo...ok guys discuss...ill come back later when the dust settles...
