Hi i brought a chipped wii recently off ebay. and i dont know what chip is inside it. is there a way to tell , or do i have to open the console up and check?

Here's some thoughts:

1. Check the S/N. that would narrow it down.

2. If Wiikey eligible, see if you can boot the GCOS config or recovery disk.

The only foolproof way is to open it up and look.

Yep so it could have a D2CKey, D2Pro, Wasabi, Argon, or the D2CPro which is a clone of the D2Ckey.

Just find a tutorial on google or even YouTube to open it up and find out.

Yes, D2C is the newest version. Your mod chip might be D2pro, Argon or Wasabi. Definitely not wiikey. Open up the wii if you insist to know what exactly the mod chip is.

Hi its a Argon chip , which is probably why my GC backups are freezing. anyone know if Argon is any good because it doesnt seem to good right now
