gameshark with modded ps2

I have an older ps2 (scph 3xxxx) (not slim). I dont know if its modded or not. I have downloaded many ps2 games from isohunt and burned them to dvd's. They all work like normal games (no swap methods needed). So, i guess my ps2 is modded. Now i have downloaded gameshark2 v4 for ps2 and burned it on a dvd. it works fine but when i select start game the tray comes out and i put the game dvd in it but it says cant read disc. I have tried this with downloaded games and originals. But it always says cant read disc.
So, please tell me:
1. does gameshark work with modded ps2's? If yes, what am i doing wrong.
2. If it doesnot work, do other such tools like armax, codebreaker work with modded p2's
