Hi! and peace!
i was just wondering how come i can't upgrade my hdd to 20 gb, 40 gb and 60 gb. the brands were fujitsu, hitachi and ibm respective to the aforemention capacity. i tried the supertutorial for upgrading hdd, tried several times as well with 7 cds, eeproms were dollected from the E partition of the XBOX orig. use the liveinfo, and i have tsop xbox with the unleashx os. i encountered a thread with the same issue like this but i never got any solution about it and have no hints were could the problem be arising from. each time i connect those hdd to my xbox, error 5 is always i received. each time i lock it says aborting!. i've been working on this for almost 2 weeks now and still haven't had a clue of what is wrong. any help and hint will be highly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Fist check if the drive is lockable
try putting the eeprom.bin file on a floppy drive and when it asks for the loctaion specify the floppy. If that doesn't work rename the file EEPROM.BIN and try again.
5 - kernel - HDD not locked (The retail xbox bioses require the hd to be locked)
This should take care of you error 5
IF your xbox was tsop flashed then it wouldn't need to be locked, it's more than likely a softmod.

No it doesn't
All you need to do is copy the files from your stock drive (c: + e:) to the new larger drive and lock your hard drive with the eeprom.
If you don't know exactly what you're talking about then don't post, we don't need more bad information on this site.
To xboxclear:
Just grab your eeprom, that's really all that you need. Check it with live info. Search for "xbox software" and you'll find all the programs and files you need. If you want to try my cheater drive there's a link located in my signature.
In xboxhdm...
Just drop the cheater or the ms dash into C: and leave E: blank. Throw your eeprom.bin into eeprom folder and then make the iso.
Burn your disc, and if you're having problems locking the drive and your eeprom checked out with liveinfo then go into the bios and change the ide setting for your drive to user.
All this is covered if you search for it

What do you mean by "Check it with Live Info" is that a program or a website, or what?

here's a link for live info
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QDHIWI3D
I just uploaded it for you
If you don't know what live info is you really shouldn't be giving advice..
Anyway just use winrar to open the file then throw live info to the desktop. Open live info and select your eeprom file. If you have all 0000's or if your serial number doesn't match then rebackup your eeprom.

I'm having problems Locking my new HDD, I used Xboxhdm v1.9, when I got to the part where you have to lock the HDD using your eeprom.bin, it said eeprom.bin not found, so I used Config Magic to get my HDD Key, I put it in manually and now I get an error 06 when I put my new HDD in. So I tried unlocking it using Config Magic and says it can't unlock it, is there a reason why?

you should never lock your hdd by entering the key by hand. You can easily mess it up and there are 2 problems from that.
1. the xbox can't unlock the hard drive now
2. you can not unlock the hard drive by using the key you have because the key you entered is different.
You need to try to unlock the hard drive using the master password with xboxhdm. The master password should be "xboxscene"
then if i were you i would build a eeprom reader or try to backup the eeprom a different way.
here's a link to the eeprom reader
Remember to check your eeprom with live info. The serial numbers should always match your console.

Now Xboxhdm says there's no HDD plugged in to the PC, but the PC recognizes it. Is there another program that can unlock the HDD?

obviously you're doing something wrong or using some screwed up copy of xboxhdm. Make sure the jumper setting is set to master and make sure the drive is plugged in as the primary master.
