plays all of my memorex older games just fine but wont play any of the newer games burned on memorex at all. could it be the media or a wii problem?

Yes, could be the media, the mod chip and probably you need to update your wii to play those newer games?

Semi-brick can still play games. Only the wii settings gives you error (opera screen)
