GTA IV - Help Playing Game

Ok laugh if you will but I'm already stuck on GTA IV. My gaming time is severely limited these days and thus considered precious therefore it would be appreciated if someone could help me out. The solution is no doubt excruciatingly simple.
Basically I have to find an object to throw through the China shop window as the dude inside does not want to pay his protection fee. Had a quick scan around but couldn't see anything I could use to throw through the window. After a 3 minute search my 5 week old daughter decided I'd played long enough and thus chose to scream the house down and so my game ended.
As you can now understand I don't get much sleep (thus can't think straight) and I don't get much game time thanks to my beautiful daughter so I'd like to swiftly break the window and move on.
Any help would be appreciated. It won't help me sleep cause I don't get sleep anymore.

switch to your fist and punch it my man. when you pull left trigger it will lock on to the window you asre supposed to hit. dont worry its a glitch in the game cause you cant pick shit up. your not retarded if it makes u feel any better.

OMG I don't think I would've thought of that. I remember driving at the doors which did nothing.
Thanks man, I accept your comments that for the time being I'm not retarded. So at least when I get home from work if I get a spare 10 minutes I can move forward in the game...

I got stuck on that mission too it asked for something to be thrown through the window so I was looking around thinking wtf do I throw?!
Then I drove the car towards the door(thought it would be cool as well actually) and it didn't work.
I ended up hitting the shoot button by accident and when the window shattered he came running out lol

You have a gun? Damn I don't even have a knife anymore (since I got arrested). Or have I misunderstood you? You hit the button by accident but don't actually have a gun yet?

Just wondering witch vesion you guys are playing. I can't wait to buy my copy on the 29th and speed my baby sitting time playing Grand Theft Auto 4 will my god daughter and son play in there play pin.

This is the first mission you do for Val, right? There should be a small construction site behind the shop, and there are rocks you can pick up there and then throw at the window.

I didn't know that! Thanks for the tip. I was lucky I got 45 minutes play this evening and got passed that mission based on the previous advice (I punched the window). I feel I must take a look at these rocks now all the same though.
Barnyboot for what it's worth I'm in the UK. I think the worldwide release is April 29th regardless of your location.

there is a brick around in the alley you're suppose to get. it glows so you will notice it but, make sure you throw the brick hard enough

Guys there is a blip in the map in the lower left-hand corner that shows the location of the brick....

lol, i remember that mission. I found the brick no problem but i threw it at the door instead and it went inside without breaking anything. All i did then was shoot the window. To speed up the process, do as i did and just shoot the window.

The map actually shows where you're suppose to pick the brick up at. It's right around the corner..keep in mind when they send you on little pick this up adventures, the map usually updates with a symbol as to where to locate the item.

In the general stats section there is a respect and like attribute for characters you meet, i.e.
Roman Like xx%
Roman Respect xx%
Does anyone know what the difference is between these two? Which one is how much THEY like you? Is that the one you need to raise above 90% to get the perk for that character?

There is a blip in your map showing the location of the diner.
