I was wondering what everyone is thinking of the beta so far.
I think the game takes too long to search but the servers work really well. I haven't seen any lag and the two maps so far are pretty nice.

.....I really dont care for it as much as I thought I would... It does take a while to find servers...Maps are pretty small also.. but its a Beta.. all the dislikes are expected... The real time to criticize is once the final game is released...

I think its great. I was coming 1st everytime, but now people are overtaking me and im getting beat quite bad. :) I like the skill mastery thing. It does take too long to look for a match sometimes though. Does anyone know if we keep our records on the beta for the proper release? Or will everyone startover at level 1?

I think it's horrible. Nothing like Metal Gear. I hope the single player is not like this crap.

I guess I never played the original MGO. However, I went through two clips to kill one guy. Even resistance takes about a clip and a half and the same goes for Halo. After clocking up about four hours and 150 kills, I'm done with this. I'd say CoD4 and Rainbow Six until Tuesday, which I hope doesn't suck.

Did you do the training before going online? It helps you with all the buttons and stuff. Alot of the controls will be the same for MGS4 single player, the aiming over the shoulder RE4 style and stuff. I like the controls better than the other MGS games, you dont have to go into FP view everytime you want to take a shot, but you can if you want. You press Square to turn auto aim off, this lets you be more accurate with your shots. Also all the crouching and rolling stuff will probably be the same, so you if you dont like the controls you might be dissapointed with MGS4. Remember though people always complain about the controls of the MGS games but you'll get used to them in the end I bet. I havnt had any slowdown at all yet, ive been playing for like 6 hours aswelll, but maybe the full release will fix the problems your having. See ya later everyone.

Yeah I have the controls down pretty well. I think the game will be awesome once again, but online might not be one of its fortes.

Ave been playing metal gear since the nes version through to the present day, the controls are the same since the PS1 version, only thing is they dont suit online play, doesnt feel right.
Its not SLOWDOWN or LAG its just plain slow moving, its crap.

I thought that you run a bit slow at first, try putting Fast Mov skill on. When I got it to level 2 I can run alot faster now. The controls are slightly different, R1 is now CQC instead of Circle, Square toggles auto aim on and off instead of shoot I think it used to be. And thats all thats changed I think, apart from the stuff they added like play dead and roll onto back and stuff. It's certainly not perfect but it works quite well and its still just a beta yet so it can only improve. At least it comes free with MGS4 anyway.

Thats a shame. I guess It's back to COD4. I'm just mad for the time I wasted downloading the first patch. Man! What a pain in the but that was.

I liked the handling of it personally but like some people had already said it doesnt feel like metal gear, or even the previous mgo for that matter. It almost feels like lost planet, not that that's a bad thing but its not what I wanted or expected.
I'm near bored of the game already, but its mostly because of the fact that there's only 2 maps and the killhouse map I loath with a vengeance.
And the lack of weapon customization in the game makes me nervous that when the full mgo2 comes out that its going to be the same setup, as in very few guns get very few customizations. And don't even get me started on drebin points I f***ing hate them pure and simple; they should have made it almost like cod4 where certain amounts of kills with that particular weapon unlocks attachments and not that drebin crap.
And one last thing they need to change the stun knife so that it doesnt drain your stamina completely when used, its extremely cheap and requires little or no skill to use.
One thing I'd like to see changed as well is how you revive yourself when you're stunned, having to use the analog like that is going to totally screw a sixaxis within a week or 2 of mgo use.

They just added a new mad and a new mode. Midtown Maelstrom and Sneaking mode. M.M is the town we see in the MGS4 trailers, its probably my fav level yet. And Sneaking mode may be my fav mode yet, one person gets to be old snake and they have to tranq the other players and get their dogtags, while red and blue still fight as normal

You mean the desert town? That sounds sweet, have they added any more weapons or changed the weapon setup at all yet? The sneaking mode in this game is rather different than the one in the previous mgo, it use to be everyone vs snake to stop him from extracting one of two intel chips.

No new weapons or anything im afraid. How it works is one player gets randomly selected as snake and one as MK.II to help snake. Snake must sneak around using the octocamo suit (which makes him very had to spot, hes kind of transparent) and CQC or tranq people. When there knocked out you run up to them crouched and hold Triangle, Snake pats the enemy and a dog tag comes out. When Snake gets 3 he Wins :D But while this is happening the red and blue team are still battling. Also MK.II is invisible, you can only see his small shadow, he only appears when shoot him. Killing MK.II counts as a kill to whoevers controlling him. And the last thing, you wont need to download the update so dont worry, the changes are there as soon as you connect. See ya later.

The new map is pretty cool and the gametype is as well. I still just don't think I like the online part of the game though. I'm not convinced that it's that great, it seems pretty sketchy.

Hm, if they were already on there doesn't that mean anything else that they're going to let us use in the beta is in fact already on our PS3's? I wounder if there's any way to get the download of MGO onto the computer and pick it apart.

Maybe the data is on our PS3s. It'd be great if someone could pick it apart and give everyone the updates konami were planning, if any, to everyone. Its only running for 2 weeks though, so they might not be another update. Unless, I dunno how it works, maybe they just add the new content to their servers or something and when people log in it just picks it up?
Also I've seen alot of people complaining about the graphics on other sites. Do you think there bad? I think there fine, if the graphics of MGS4 are the same i'll be happy. IMO graphics dont make a game, its the story. The only thing that I dont like about the graphics is the lighting looks blocky and edgy sometimes, but this might be because I have an SD TV and not a HD one.

Character graphics were fairly good nothing spectacular though, I wasn't too impressed with the environmental graphics though it looked like mgs2 quality. I suppose it's just a beta though.
And I just got a brainstorm about the space issue kojima was having, why doesnt he make part of the game downloaded? Like the stuff that was going to get loaded onto the HDD anyway.
