After mass producing costers with memorex I've taken the advice of others to buy Verbatim.

My questions are: will the 16x Single-sided DVD+R work in my DVD player (it doesn't play dual layer and I've never tried 16x only 8x single sided)? It's quite old (a playstation 2).

Also, will I be able to burn these at 16x with my 20x lite-on? I'm thinking yes but I'm about to cash out $100 on 200 disks so I need some confirmation

Why not just buy a few to try them out. You could probably find out your drives capabilities on their web site.

Here is a site that will tell you all about your drive:
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters?DVDn...0&Search=Search
just put your drive # in and see the specs and read the comments about your drive.

Your LiteOn should be able to burn those 16x Verbatims. But, like Ozy said.... get a few and try them out..... or you can take the plunge and buy a bunch! Just read the label and make sure those Verbatims are NOT made in India! The ones from Taiwan/Singapore are the better ones!

you don't want to burn at 16x anyway burn at 6x to 8x max.

you can get a better deal than that on Verbatim the going price is about 25.00 dollars per 100

I think with the Sony play stations you might have better luck using the DVD dash R format compared the the DVD plus R
