A couple of questions about PSP Custom Firmware.

I know I could find these on my own if I searched hard enough, but I'd prefer not to wade through mountains of information, so if some could please answer these questions it'd be appreciated.

1. Can any Firmware be downgraded?
2. What is the likelihood of a brick happening? Does it only happen if you're stupid and careless?
3. What exactly can downgraded firmware do? Emulation of which systems? PSP ISOs?
