You must be referring to the VPL-VW100 (not 1000) - aka the "Ruby." This has been discontinued and has been replaced by the VPL-VW200 (MSRP $14,000 or about 9,000 Euros). The VW200 has a 3,500:1 CR and is rated at 1,000 ANSI lumens.

eatsushi has the Sony VPL-VW50 or the "Pearl". I know dblbogey7 used to have the VPL-VW100 but I think he upgraded to the JVC RS1.

If the black levels of this projector are anywhere near those of the Kuro plasmas then this will be very impressive indeed.
Anyway, error5 is right. On paper this PJ seems to be pitted against the new VPL-VW200 from Sony both in specs and price. It would be interesting to see what the guys on avsforums think.

Aren't you getting your economic stimulus check Zippy?
To detrmine eligibility:
http://www.irs.gov/app/espc/
For singles
If you earned less than $3,000 - unfortunately you?d get nothing.
If you earned more than $3,000 but paid no taxes, you?d get $300.
If you earned more than $3,000 and paid taxes, you get $600.
If you have children, add $300 per.
Added: Some people on avsforums are speculating that it's a rebadged JVC RS2. The Pioneer and the 2 JVC's look similar:

Looks like the Pioneer has the same LCoS engine that's in the JVC's (aka D-ILA).
dblbogey7: Are you upgrading to the RS-2?
