I have an unmodded 360 with a Samsung drive. Last night it made a grinding noise and after I ejected the disk it would not stay closed. It would just reopen every time. So I took it apart and with drive cover off it will stay shut, but you can see the laser is hitting the disk. Is there anything I can do to save this drive? If not is there a place I can send my dive to and have the firmware transfered? I only have a laptop, so doing it my self might be an issue. Please see video for better understanding.
You would have to ship the drive, and the replacement drive. But it can be done. And I can do it for you as long as you provide shipping. Georgia here. PM me if you want this done.
Thanks for the response. I found out you can just swap circuit boards with the new dive. I will get the drive Wednesday and if I have problems I might take you up on that offer.
you have to have THE EXACT SAME DRIVE so if you have an ms25, it has to be an ms25 drive, if you have an ms28, it has to be an ms28. anything other than the exact same drive, wont work.

I swapped two different version Hitachi drives and it works perfect. I guess they don't need to be the same version if you keep your original chipset.
