have you tried it in recovery mode
hard reset the psp (take battery out or hold the power button up till it flashes and then turns off)
then turn it back on while holding the r trigger
then click on toggle usb and see if that works if not try toggle flsh0,1,2,3 in advanced and see if anything comes up.
then exit recovery mode
press select on the xmb and then change the usb to flash0,1,2,3 and umd and see if they work
if it all doesn't work and what 07anto07 said didnt work as well all i can suggest is that the usb fuse my have blown but im sure its not that.
hope that all helps

it'll be likely that its the fuse for the usb has blow you can bridge it and it should fix the problem. it is a bit risky but worth it if you use the flash0 a lot to change themes (could use filer for that) because you have to solder over a small fuse on the motherboard.

Quote: im almost sure its not my ms
That's not the same as being sure.
For what it's worth, try another ms before doing anything drastic. First rule of diagnostics= rule out every possibility, however remote it may be.
Good luck,

Go to you pc press "Start" then right click and "my computer" then go "properties" after you do that choose "Hardware" Then click on "device management" Then see if your psp is in "Universal Serial Bus Controller" if it is then unistall the driver from there then when you insert PSP back to PC it will install new ones for you. If doesn't work try tahing out the usb from one usb port and plugging it to other.

no that wont work due to the fact it would say usb connected and the computer will not reconise it. but because it say please wait i can only suggest that its the usb fuse.
what you could try is download a flash0 theme and change the usb rco files. use filer to copy the files across on the psp no need for usb

its a file browser for the psp. you can access the flash0 on it so its handy for doing stuff with the flash0 without a computer and usb

Hey! I had the same problem so I know your pain. Try this; it worked for mine and its ez.
-Completely power off your PSP
-Hold R when ya turn it back on
-If the first option you see is toggle USB (i have the regular cfw 3.90m33)
-Hit X and try to connect it to your PC.

if you have tried everything in this thread and have connected it to other pcs and devices and still no luck it will be likly to be the fuse but also check the memory card in another psp if you can

yer here - http://www.llamma.com/PSP/repair/PSP_fuse_repair.htm
i used it to bridge the backlight.
but there is a good way to check it unclick the screen but dont unplug it and take of the screen holder then turn the psp on and put a flat head screw driver over the fuse you are going to bridge and connect the usb cable and see if it works
if so you will need to bridge it there is no real way of replacing it as far as i know
