I know that the xbox 360 has had some internal changes over the years do to various reason, but I'm interested in both buying and flashing a 360 of my own, my question is I have read a few tutorials, and I have seen the 3 different DVD drives, but a lot of the tutorials are old, I was wondering does it matter?...I'm mean, do the drives and flashing methods stay the same even if the surrounding hardware for newer 360's change?
I would hate to buy it, flash it, and then have it break down because it was one of the older less stable models, then what would I do with no warranty? Thats why I want the newest 360 because it will likely have fewer technical problems then the originally released systems, so I might have a better chance.
The reason the tutorials keep changing is because the firmwares keep changing. As the coders figure out better ways to get around Microsoft's detection methods, newer, better, firmwares come out making the old ones obsolete.
I'd suggest googling textbooks hacking the xbox 360. Its far and away the best tutorial on the net and i think was updated in february of this year.
Also if I were you I'd try to get a MS25 or 28 version or a BenQ as these are the easiest to flash, at least IMO

its not on the box, but there was a site www.360drives.com/, its not working now, but this site is a database you can use when buying a new system and based on the information on the box, you can almost guarantee your particular drive.
I've been reading through the material, checking my PC, and just generally going over how much I actually need to know, and I'm beginning to seriously doubt I'll be able to do this, is there anyone trustworthy enough to do this for me?...or, can I just buy it already done?
