Trouble after first flash - MS25 - Any suggestions?

Hi everyone

I am new here and have just recently followed Textbook's guide to a tee in order to upgrade the firmware on my xbox 360. I used the iXtreme 1.4 at 5x speed on a first generation MS25 drive.

Everything throughout the process would indicate that the flash was successful. I received no errors at all. The xbox now plays store bought discs without any problems. My problems is with a particular backup. I only have one backup, so I am not able to test with anything but this one.

I have burned the backup from the .dvd file exactly the way it has been described on all the forums. The game will load through to the first cut scene at which point, once the dialogue and in game graphics start, within just 10 seconds, it makes a loud bzzzt! sound (coming from the TV audio) and the game will freeze. Sometimes if I don't give the console time to rest, the bzzzt! sound and freeze will come during the first rotating sphere screen that comes up when I turn on the console.

I have tried several different types of media. I am currently using Verbatim manufactured in singapore. The discs are being burned at 2.4x on Samsung DVD-RW and a Lite-on DVD-RW drives. I have taken all the necessary precautions by changing all the possible settings in imgBurn to be perfect(manually setting the LayerBreak, selecting the drive, etc.).

After 3 discs, I get the same error at the same spot. Here are my questions:

Is it possible that the firmware is in some way corrupted?

Is the drive speed causing this error?

Can anyone possibly point me in the right direction?
