i hope i'm in the right forum here...

i've tried making backups of a few files i have on my external that are over 1GB each. for some reason, when i insert the disc and try playing them afterwards, it either doesn't do anything or it just freezes up (i can't even right-click on them).

how could i back these files up on a dvd+r without having to break them up using winrar? i would like to just play them off of the disc instead of unzipping them onto my drive.

thanks.

Helpful replies come to those who provide enough details to make that a possibility.

hmm, well, let's see...

i'm running windows xp (sp2) and the files i'm trying to back up to disc are all video files (avi, mpg, mp4), although i'm sure i would run into the same trouble if i backed up anything over 1GB. i've tried burning this using several programs (nero, burn and go, cd burner xp pro, etc), but i always get the same results.

what other details would you need in order to help?

thanks.

again, if somebody could tell me what additional details i would need to list other than what i've mentioned above, please let me know. i thought this was more a problem with windows than with my system.

Never once did you mention converting to DVD to play in a standalone.
