Restoring Firmware on a Samsung MS28

I flashed my friends Samsung MS28 with hacked firmware and it was working fine....

He just got the RROD and brought it back to me. I still have the original firmware, so I made a new boot disk using his Original firmware on a usb drive using iPrep.

When I run dos and type rSam(Serial)

it brings up...

1: XTREME Pri Master

I turn off the 360 and type 1 it then brings up
Port: dd60, Master/Slave: a0

No matter How many seconds I wait (10, 5, 20..) to turn the 360 back on. It wont change from the above a0

1. He still has his warranty sticker intact, so would it be absolutely necessary to flash it back, in order to send it to microsoft?

2. If it is necessary are their any suggestions to what I can do to restore the original firmware. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
