Yet another post about the rubbish Ebuyer try and fob you off with.

Last week I had a 600W Power Supply fail, machine would not switch on at all.
The motherboard has two Led's that show power is available should the pc start button be pressed.
After the failure they were both out.

The power supply is about 5 weeks old, and as an Electrician for 35 years I tested it to see if it was duff.

I contacted Ebuyer who gave me a RMA number and City Link picked up the failed unit a couple of days later.

That was all the good news, now the bad !!!!!!!

They send me an email saying they could find nothing wrong with it and had shipped it back to me.

I phoned them and explained I had tested it and it was duff, but as it was still under warranty I did not remove the seal and check inside for loose connections or dry solder joints.

All I got was it's being sent back to you sir.

Well a couple of hours ago I received a couple of jpegs showing my power supply with the fan running and all test bench led's illuminated.

Does this prove it has no loose connections or dry joints, I think not.

So now I am told run it sir and see how you get on !!!!!!!
I don't think so, I will not be accepting the delivery and will return to sender.

What happens next, who knows, I lost me money that's about it.

Will not buy from then again.

This is the first thing I have had from them that's gone wrong and this is how they treat you, so beware.

That's bad luck; i've used them for years and had my fair share of returns, all dealt with quickly and correctly. They seem to be a very good company so i would persevere and send it back again

I've recently had to send back two Samsung SpinPoint HD501LJ because of them developing bad sectors in a short space of time.

Both were delt with very well and with replacements sent out to me on next day delivery. Both drives are now fine and running a higher firmware version which must correct a bug or two causing all of the bad sectors.

yeah, this year i had a couple WD SATA drives that kept 'disappearing' in use, in USB enclosures and mounted internally. They were collected/tested/replacements sent out really quickly, any other faulty stuff is dealt with in the same way in my experience with them (plus you don't get charged for collection or sending replacements to you)

Ebuyer are pretty good with returns, but in all fairness, you're an idiot if you buy an ebuyer PSU and expect it to power anything anything more than maybe an external hard disk. The electronics inside ebuyer 600W units are only rated for about 120W. Beyond that it's above their tolerance rating which is why they go bang. I had one, and good god I'm glad I didn't keep it.
Get a proper Corsair unit or something.

Indeed, my Corsair HX Series 620W is an excellent bit of kit. No more cheapy PSU's or crappy PSU's supplied with cases, for me; any future custom built pc's will only have decent PSU's bought.

I made the decent PSU move a couple of years back when a cheapo PSU toasted my old PC (this said unit was the successor to the dodgy ebuyer 600W unit that kept shutting down). I've had two Hiper Type-Rs since then, but to be quite honest, after owning them for a while I'd place them in the middle ground between nasty units and good ones. They're not really as good as I once thought. The 750W Toughpower in my main PC has been a relatively good buy, but I'm pretty sure I could have had a 620W Corsair instead for the same money, and that would certainly have been the wiser choice. I'm never going to need more than 600 watts, and it's a much quieter unit. That's not the only mistake I made in those few months either, I chose a P5N-E SLI over a 965P-DS3. What was I thinking?
