Geniuses--I need your help! I've got a huge number of dvd's that I've burnt and never had a problem. But I got some dvd's from a guy of some programs that have never been available commercially (meaning, they are done from old videos taped off of tv). The dvd's play fine on my computer and (suprisingly enough), an ancient Pioneer dvd player that I hauled out of my closet to check these on. However, every 30 seconds on playing these back on two of my dvd players, they freeze for just a second. If I watch the counter, if the dvd freezes at 29 sec., for instance, it will flash 59 for just a second (during the moment of freeze) and then when the counter reaches 59, it will freeze again and flash 29 for just a second. It's always 30 seconds, but if I move ahead to the next chapter, for instance, the 30 seconds will start from the start of the chapter.

I backed up the dvd's, used DVDshrink and then burnt them with Nero onto my usual dvd's that never have playback problems on my players. No luck. They still froze every 30 seconds.

Anybody run into this problem? The guy I bought them from assured me it was the dvd's he was using. He said they must not be compatible with my players. But, obviously, since I have now burnt the programs onto my usual dvd's, the problem must be in the coding somewhere. Is there something I can do to re-code this so it won't happen?

Hopefully, I explained this well enough. Any help is appreciated. I'm not extremely technical, by the way, so keep it simple for me.

I had a similar problem with a Samsung DVD recorder.
At each chapter point, if the disks were played back on another standalone unit, the video would hesitate at the chapter point.
I cured it by replacing the recorder.

One method would be to demux the movie with 'Rejig' (IFO Mode)then use it's 'DVD Author' mode to mux a new movie - that would take that possibility out of the picture.

Thanks for your response!

Looks like Rejig is for Windows--got any suggestions for a program to demux on a Mac?
