You can 'fix' the 3RL, but odds are pretty good it'll come back eventually. Some people get there's to work for another couple months, others have had it running for over a year. Kinda a crapshoot, though I've personally never done it.
You'll wanna look up the X-Clamp and penny trick, or at least I think those are the methods. Also replacing the thermal paste seems to be a pretty popular method.

ebay is a great place for 360s. buy the RROD ones, call up MS until you get a rep that will register it for you, as some wont if its been registered to a different person, then call back in, and request a coffin for it, mail it end, wait a few weeks and get a new one back.

i rather stay off the post. Cuz im still a kid, without a lot of free will. Rather fix it myself.
From youtube, i saw the RROD can be fix with a towel . Is that true? Seems odd that someone would sell a easily fix xbox 360 ...

have another question to ask. So, the seller on ebay is saying its only selling the console. So, there is goin to be missing some things. So my question is what things u need to make the 360 run like the power cord and such ?
Are we allowed to post the a ebay link here ?

If you're new to 360s, you could be in over your head trying to start out with a rrod. The 3 red light error can be any number of different hardware errors. Not just overheating.
You got to know what the error is before you can address the issue. You can't just throw a towel over the 360 and expect it to be fixed.
If you don't know the error code and you don't want to send it in to MS for repair, don't buy a rrod.

the last two I sent in were returned unrepaired. I think they might be cracking down on sending in boxes with no seal.

as long as you aren't posting a link to one of your auctions, i don't think the mods will mind.
But typically you want to have the power cords, a/v cables, harddrive, or memory card, controller and headset.
When I first bought mine, I bought the full package deal on ebay and the box had the RROD and I paid $150, it came with everything.
Of course that was before MS extended the warranty to 3 years on the RROD so I paid a guy on ebay to reflow it for me and it worked flawlessly for 15 months until i spilled coke on it.

slimdog....
I am awaiting the box from m$ to send mine in. I have the seal on the box but if you actually take th time to look you can tell it was peeled off before. You think they will reject it?

its hard to tell.
Ive sent some in where the sticker wasn't there at all and they repaired it, and then i'm expecting one tomorrow that was the same as the one you describe and I'm sure they rejected it.
Basically its a crap shoot. You would have been better off ordering one that still had the seal intact, you might pay a little more, but you're guaranteed to get it fixed.
