This thread could turn out to be very interesting. It seems that there might be something in the works. Maybe some DVD Shrink users would like to contribute.

Now my curiousity is aroused.

I wonder what's in the works? You'll have to keep us posted on this one Dialysis.

dialysis:That's one of the few forums that I'm not a member of. You can copy/paste the folling in that thread if you'd like:

I still use Dvd shrink on 99% of my Dvd-9-Dvd-5 backups.Around 5% of them, I have to enable anydvd in the background. Yes,Dvd Shrink is old and outdated, but she still does a fantastik job.

I always leave anydvd disabled on every rip. This way, I know what dvd shrink can and can't do,upon the arrival of the new releases.

When dvd shrink encounters problematic encryption, I'll usually get one of the following messages:

1)Invallid DVD navigation structure
2)CRC error-----Due to encryption and not a damaged/dirty/bum disc. Example: The Golden Compass
3)Programming error,Exception occurred.
4)Copy protection error-The read failed because the sector is encrypted.

Lately,it's been the CRC errors and false red compression bars, but Dvd shrink/Reauthoring Main movie only, and anydvd has no trouble backing up.If encountering any red bars after reauthoring, check compression setting. This setting will be correct, not the false red bar- Example: The Golden Compass.

Another problem that has happened in the past with dvd shrink's Reauthoring,is some extra crap slapped in around the beginning trademarks like Columbia's Lady Liberty trademark. This caused dvd players not to start autoplaying the backups after inserting. I had to skip to chapter 2,rewind til the beginning, and then play.

I set the Start frame setting to cut out those beginning trademerks on all backups..

My understanding is dvdshrink now works for Nero, so maybe a new recode is in the works that also incorporates the best of Imgburn ?

It seems that he's interested in some of the new copy protection. Nero wouldn't do that and there is no proof that he ever worked on Nero.
