I've got an old fat PAL PlayStation 2 console (was some SCPH-50000, I believe). And for quite some time I've been wanting to play some imported original NTSC games. So I'm just wondering, would Swap Magic be worth it? I know it can be quite troublesome to get off the disc tray cover (wouldn't want to break it), and I'm not sure if it can later be attached back. And then the slide tool, isn't there high-risk of breaking the disc tray?

Thanks, some insight on this matter would be nice. Be honest now!

Swap Magic IS worth it! I own Swap Magic 3.6 and I use it all the time. It is not only good for imports but helps keep your disks safe by playing backups instead. As for the slider tool I wouldn't think that it would have much of a risk of breaking the tray. I don't know for sure though cuz I have a slimline PS2. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

1st PSP: 2.6 > 2.71 > 2.81 > 3.3 > sold (week later 3.5 downgrader came out)

2nd PSP: 2.0 > 1.5 > 3.40 oe-a > semi brick > 3.40 oe-a > semi brick > 3.40 oe-a > semi brick > 3.40 oe-a > semi brick > 3.40 oe-a (was semi bricking evertime i went into the recover menu) > deleted Flash1 > 3.40 oe-a (working perfectly) > 3.71 M33-2 (Via. Pandora's Battery) > 3.71 M33-4 > 3.71 M33-4 (With 1.5 Kernal add-on) > 3.90 M33-3 (With 1.5 Kernal add-on)

I personally use SM 3.6 now only when I have too (Game isn't compatible with HDLOADER)
If you have a Fat PS2 and you want to play backups the cheap way SM is the way to go but if you want to save the life of your laser playing off of a Hard Drive with HDLOADER is the way to go...

OK.
Just wondering how much of a burden it would be for the disc tray. And if the disc tray cover actually comes off or you'll have to break it off (seems to me it's attached quite hard).

yeah you just got take extra care when taking it off, there might be guides on how to take it off properly, Wish i found one, I ended up breaking mine off anyways lol.

But with my slidetool kit it came with another cover to put on to use with the slide tool :)

If you break it off you can easily superglue it back on... Its not really a biggy, but once its on you cant use the slide tool again...

the slide tool hits a small white tab on the drive that triggers the gear and unlocks the drive... pretty much the same idea is the pinhole in the drive on your computer that you stick a paper clip in...
