Guys and girls, I stumbled on this forum by accident and would like to run homebrew apps on a PSP Slim and had a few quick questions I was hoping some of you experts can answer for me ;)

1. From what I understand, I can flash any CFW on ANY PSP Slim as long as I have Pandora's battery (JigKick + MagicMem), is that correct?

2. When creating the JigKick battery, most guides say to cut the pin on the IC while another mentioned to cut the gold line. Are there any advantages of one over the other? (to me it seems easier cutting the gold line and then using a pencil to fill the cut later)

3. I don't understand why many guides say I need a PSP Fat with 1.50 firmware. Can't I just buy a PSP Slim and make a Pandora's battery with just that and my PC?

4. Are there any known issues with using Pandora's Battery to flash CFW (M33 3.90 for example) on Japanese-imported PSP Slims? I'm looking to get an import as I want a plain white slim (the white slims here in NA all have Darth Vader heads on the back).

If someone can kindly advise on my inquiries, that would be greatly appreciated - many thanks!

1. Partly. Not any cfw, only ones 3.60 M33 or higher.

2. Not too sure, you'd be better off buying a pre-made Pandora battery (Datel tool).

3. Those guides are old. :) Back when you needed a 1.50 capable PSP to run the first Pandora programs. Now, you can do without.

4. None at all, since the flasher formats the flash0 (where the firmware is kept). Because it does that, all custom firmwares are region-free.

Happy homebrewing :)

Thanks LeadBaron, that was exactly what I was looking for.

Now I need to find out where to I can pick up either a spare PSP Slim battery or Datel service battery here in Canada...

Quick question - I was reading on the following from Dark-Alex regarding the JigKick battery. He wrote:

Quote:
Also any new battery which is official (Including Phat and Slim) and all fake batteries cannot be converted in a Pandora's Battery.
and then goes on to write:
Quote:

Working:

* Sony Slim "standard" Li-ion 1200 mAh
* Sony "standard" Li-ion 1800 mAh
* Sony PSP-280 2200mAh

* Datel, PSP Battery 3600 mAh (X2)
* Datel, PSP Battery 1800 Max Power
* Datel, PSP Battery GO MAX (Model # GM1000, uses AAA batteries) note: If u remove the batteries, it resets the serial back to all 0's
So it seems to me he contradicted his statement as the standard Sony batteries are reported working. Does anyone know if the official batteries that come with new PSP Slims can be converted to JigKick?

Thanks again!

I just bought a new fat battery, directly from Sony, and it works fine for Pandora. I bought my Slim 2 months ago, and that battery works fine as well.

If you want to buy a DATEL tool, this works just as well.

Not a problem. Good luck :)

Don't forget, you'll need to make your own magic memory stick to tandem with the battery.

I have one more question, didn't want to make a new thread for this. I have someone who is willing to pre-flash the M33 3.80 or 3.90 firmware to a PSP Slim before I buy it. If this happens, is it possible for me to use the "net update" feature of the 3.80/3.90 M33 firmwares to flash future M33 CFWs without the pandora battery?
