Hi,

I hope this isn't a duplicate post, I tried the search but I am having a hard time trying to find my issue. Here it is:

I have a PC that I am using as an HDTV.

A64 3700 (s 754)
Lanparty UT 250gb
2GB RAM
XP Pro SP2
BFI 6800U (AGP)
Emermax 650W (+12v=36A,3.3=36A, 5=36A)

I have this connected to a Toshiba 32 LCD TV (32AV500U)via the VGA port using a DVI adaptor to my Video Card (I am going to try a DVI to HDMI cable - should get that early next week).

I used the codec guide from this site and I have added the latest FFD Show, xvid and divx.

All videos (WMV, AVI, MPEG, etc) play back perfectly using Media Player Classic or VLC. My issue is when I use full screen mode (on MPC or VLC) while playing an AVI file, I get random Rectangular blocks on the top-right corner of the screen (3x5 inches). These blocks look almost like a magnifying glass or as if you put a square filled with water and placed it in the top right corner. I don't think its the tv as regular tv and DVD look perfect.

My gut feeling tells me its the connection cable, but I am unsure. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

hey,

im just tellling u from experience that ur problem is most definately softwar eand not hardware dont waste ur money on buying another cord.

also buying a dvi to hdmi sucks.
i had one and when i connected it to my hdtv it cutt off a major esction on my screen. everyone almost had the same exact issue wh=ith al brands of the cord so just stick with vga.
besides vga displays the same amount of definition there really isnt a difference.

anyways if i were you i woudl uninstall all the codecs and and drivers for ur 3870 and update the driver and codecs and reinstall them without running any prgrams in the background to avoid errors.

then restart and try playing the movie im positive this would fix ur problem

Hi,

I replaced the cable with a DVI to HDMI and it resolved the problem. Thanks for the reply.
