Cant use avi video in 3ds Max! Please help!

Hi,
I cant apply avi into diffuse bitmap channel, nothing happens when i try to open avi files. Those video files arent broken, i tested them in media player. Mov files load normally in texture. Tried in max 2008 & 2009. Broken avi-codec/encoder, or what?

If the problem is broken codecs/encoder, how to simply remove/fix/update those. Any software or patch?

My pc is running Vista.
