Hi guys,
just to inform you that there is a new chip for the WII according to D2CKey.org, here's the message posted today on their website:
Quote:New d2c chip in the wild, dumped by d2ckey team - 2008-05-05
We received the first drive with the new d2c chip on yesterday and we can confirm that is indeed different. We have dumped the firmware and are just starting to analyze it. It seems that nr reader mode has been disabled in this firmware (see nice screenshot of firmware disassembly).
Well new Wiis in stores right now have a new D2C chip set with different code. Nintendo thought this would end all ways of modding the system.
But now the D2CKey team is trying to fix the problem and re-flash their chips with the new code to disable the disable system Nintendo used. Pretty simple really.
Does this mean if i am trying to mod a wii with d2c chip currently, with a wii that was purchased about 1 month ago in the U.S.A, the current d2ckey wont do the job?

Thanks I got it now :)
timmle: Maybe you got the new chip, but they will probably fix it by the time u get ready to mod it :)
Ya,
just keep your eyes on their site as they will probably find a solution to it, the impression i got from ndarkness' message is that it's not a revolutionary protection, so it will be solved promptly :)
How can i tell if i got the new d2c chip or the older one?
Model no is RVL-001(EUR)
Do you need serial no?os should i avoid posting it in public in case nintendo restricts the internet access?
i dont think u can tell by now as it's has just been confirmed, did you try the serial number tracker; I dont think it's useful as the existance of a new chip has just been confirmed by d2ckey. installing a current d2ckey would tell u whether it's new or old :) trial and error :)
