Light on fat ps2 dies out

hi

when I turn on my fat ps2 with the switch in the back the red light turns on for like four seconds then turns off. If i hit the red button it turns on but soon turns back off. Is there anyone who knows how to fix this problem?

mmm...does the fan run when it turns on for those few seconds?

Sounds like a overheating problem, or power problem. Both can be fixed.

OMG ITS ALIVE AGAIN!!!!!!! THANK GOD

i went to go see if the fan turns on and the thing turned on and stayed on. ill repost if i get anymore problems. thanks for the help=]

bad batteries can cause these issues along with pinched wires which are common in the ps2 or any portable/compact console:)

if it pursues again i'd try to get a replacement...might be hard to pull off:)

Check for Dirt in the contacts of the buttons, dirt can cause that problem. Then check the ribbon from the red light button to the MB for looseness (it comes out real easily). Also make sure the power plug is all the way in.

alot of time when people take it apart they only push a power pin half the way in or on a tilt......this causes a faulty connection:(
