My question is that, How do i do cog swap method, aybody want to send me a link, in which i will be Successful at doing the cogswap method. Also one question that i am very concerned with is that, if i use swap magic or cog swap methods and i burn a game onto dvd, and when i start playing the backed up game alot, can i ruin the laser of the fat ps2? will the laser or anything else get bad and eventually not work? please comment back. Thanks

In order to do cogswap you need to load the .ELF somehow. Recommendation would be Independence Exploit or ARMAX.

Just make sure you burn at low speeds (4X) and onto quality media (Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, and Sony's).

If you have a fat PS2 and want your laser to last longer it is recommended that you buy a Network Adaptor for the PS2 and add a hard drive. Then you can add the hdloader elf to your memory card. And then just play games straight from the hard drive.

you will still need an original Swap Magic disk to run either hdloader or your exploit cd. I've found it easy installing the exploit iso onto my hard drive then burning hdloader and then run the exploit from the hard drive to add the hdloader to the memory card. This way if you ever need to change the trigger disk you just create the new exploit iso upload it to your hard drive and run it, instead of burning another cd.

Even though the fat and slim ps2's both have USB ports, only the slim has usb 2.0 the fat one only have 1.1 That's why it's OK to use external hard drives with a slim ps2

You can add an external hdd to a fat ps2 but people say the games run too slow so you're better just playing from the dvd/cd.

To attach an internal hdd to a fat ps2 you have to buy a network adaptor for it.

And if you use the memory card axploit to run elfs from it, the laser is only use for a few seconds to read the trigger disk instead of being continuously used when playing a dvd, so when you have a hdd attached your laser will last a lot longer.

Playing off the HD will save your laser. You will need a net adapter if you are using a fat PS2.
