Hello, I got a problem with psp slim. The backlight won't turn on. I believe it's the fault of fuse. And now the problem is, where could i find the fuses in psp slim? I looked on the internet and only found the scheme for a fat psp. Could anyone help me?

i ahd the same problem but for the phat one so i dont know what difference there is with the slim.
the best thing to do first is to take the screen off and the screen holder.
now i guessing they keep the same type of fuse for the psp slim as they did with the fat so the one you are looking for has FD labeled on it
FD fuse image for phat psp
now if you can find that on your psp then you can test it but note i take no responsability if it goes wrong but i dout it will
now if you can find the FD fuse plug the screen in and get a flat head screw driver and turn the psp on then place the tip of the screw driver over the fuse and when it connects it should flash on. if this happens then it is that fuse you will need to bridge.
this is the site i used when mine went http://www.llamma.com/PSP/repair/PSP_fuse_repair.htm
note i have brigde mine and have had no problems so far so just to note that
now i would be more happy to tell you how to do it all if it was a fat psp but as its a slim im a bit unsure on how it is all set up.
hope it all goes well for you
ps if you could upload a picture of the mother board that might help find where the fuse is if you want to do that before testing it but it will need to be a sharp picture

the bit where the clips are for the screen check to see if there is the FD fuse im sure they will have kept it the same.
yes they are different but may of the phat parts will be in the slim as it works in basicly the same way. the main change was the cpu and flash dram and the flash0 storage and many other larger parts
i can't see from the tutorial image the fuse but ill see if i can find a better picture
sorry i cant be of anymore help

I found it. It's no FD fuse. It was on the other side of the motherboard. Backlights are now working.

I wired it and soldered it to prevent it from moving (I used a very small wire from my bad earphones).
I wrote a thread on both AfterDawn and Acidmods at the same day. Didn't get a answer (and I couldn't find it on the internet too), so I took out the motherboard and looked at it and found fuses, although it doesn't have FD written on it.
Just looked at my thread on Acidmods and found the answer (although a bit late for me :D):
Quote: locate the clip for the backlight (where the orange/gold thing goes into)
then turn over the mobo so you look at the back of it
you'll see 2 fuses there
one if for the speakers and one is for the backlight
the lower one is for the backlight
Hope this will help someone with the same problem as me.
I got this psp as a dead one. Unbricked it, soldered the backlight connector cable and bridged the fuse and it's working like a new. Except that the first game I tried got me a "Game could not be started xxxxxx" error. I swear it's cursed! :D Hopefully, there is a fix to fix that.

hope you get all working sorry i couldnt help you with the fuse but im not much of a hardware person and i dont own a slim lol.

I also had me the problem of the backlight on my psp 1003 motherboards 081
I have opened the psp and I have seen the fused exploded FD therefore having read various forum I have short-circuited the fused ones with some pond, I have also replaced the display but continuous to see the black screen and the menu of start if I put an external lamp.
what can I do having also replaced the display? is the motherboard suddenly broken?

Try to check if you fused it in the right way. The blacklight connector might be a problem too. It shouldn't be a motherboard fault, as it is working.

Thanks for the answer
Do you perhaps think to a cold welding on the connector?
What has the breakup of the fused ones provoked according to your experience?
Have I noticed in effects that the pressore of the connector doesn't adequately press the flat of the backlight I perhaps have to make again the weldings?
Don't you think that I am brikked? because I have purchased her with that defect
make to know me
thanks
a regard
