[b]Help, I think my amp is dead? Sony STR DG910[/b]

Hi All,
Due to an inspired brainwave on my brothers part, and my own stupidity in leaving him alone in my house!My Sony Str dg910 is now dead.
I imported this amp from the US and was using a stepdown converter to power it, for some reason while I was on holidays the hum from this converter started to bother my brother(who was housesitting) so he just cut off the us plug and wired it to a 3pin!!!!!
Now my Amp will not power on. I get a click sound when I press the power switch but no other sign of life!!!
Can this be fixed?
Is it something as simple as a fuse issue or similar?
Please help keep me out of prison..... Because if it can't be fixed I'm gonna kill him.

BTW,I feel for you
Being you are outside of the US, I believe indentured servitude is still legal.
There should be a main fuse from the power cable somewhere underneath the cover. So try to replace that. If that does not do the trick, then repairs may exceed the cost of a new unit. This is why I mentioned indentured servitude (for your brother). Otherwise it is murder and jail time for you.

Do you have any idea what type of fuse is used on these units?
Just so can have 1 ready to go before I break her open.

For the US the fuse is usually AGC 125 v 10-12 amps. But just a guess
For what it is worth, the punishment is referred to as Cane-ing (canning?)
BTW try to stay out of prison, no internet there, and we need all the aD members viable and free.

Makes a simple fix that much more awkward I think.

Corporate America does not believe in simple fixes because then you're doing it yourself and not taking it to someone.
BTW...glad you got everything sorted out...a mild ass whooping may still be in order.

It's standard practice. All equipment must have a "customer inaccessible" safety device fitted as protection from fire/shock hazard if the line fuse is replaced incorrectly (who ever looks to see if a plug has the right fuse fitted?? so long as it works most people just fit 13A and have done with it. Wrong but very very normal..) Imagine the damage that would be caused if it hadn't been there and nubbins had wired it up straight to the mains with a 13 amp fuse in the plug... Big Money!! Possibly a fire, certainly a very big bang.. maybe electrocution.. possibly destruction of other connected appliances.
Staple his testicles to a fence outside and leave him overnight to consider his actions.... or wire the case of his computer direct to live mains. Both are cruel and unusual punishment.. I prefer the first.. mental scarring for life.
