I've been noticing an ever increasing amount of stickies in the Wii section. I think it's a bit excessive, I mean we have 2 stickies saying the exact same thing (no friend codes). Is that really necessary? Having too many stickies is bad for a couple of reason:
1. They accumulate hundreds upon hundreds of posts, 90% of which are junk/repetitive. This discourages newcomers from wanting to look through it, and can cause useless search results to come up when something is searched for, which leads to all the repeated questions we see posted on the forums.
2. It reduces the amount of threads on the first page, so questions may go unanswered, then get re-asked again and again. All in all it leads to lots of clutter. The fact that soo many threads end up closed speaks volumes.
Some suggestions (up to administration to follow them)
1. Get rid of one of the friend code stickies, one is plenty.
2. Get rid of the "how to search for your answer" sticky, it is of course recommended but I think it's better to put steps on how to search in the 1st rule of forums, "search for your answer".
3. Get rid of the extracting files sticky, isn't WinRAR common knowledge by now? If not I guess it can stay.
4. Instead of keeping a sticky for every 1st-party nintendo game, make a brawl/mario kart/mario galaxy thread, consolidating the important points for each. These threads are very useful individually when the game is new and discussions are being had regularly about problems and solutions, but once that is over is it not better to summarize what we've learned? I am willing to help out with this.
5. Combine the Region Bricking thread into the Wii information thread. The UnRAR information thread could also be added here if req'd. Having one huge post w/ relevant information and a table of contents at the start is more efficient than several different stickies.
I know this probably will not happen but I thought I'd throw it out there anyways.
Wow!! Fantastic! I must say I was shocked, when I clicked the wii discussion forums and saw so few stickies, I thought I had misclicked! I'm very impressed and the ultimate ultimate sticky is a very handy resource.

By the way, if this question wasn't asked every day by multiple noobs then I would never had created a thread for it. You would think that it should be common knowledge but invariably somebody asks this question almost every day.
A main reason I don't come to the Wii forum anymore is because of the constant repetetive noob questions. O well, I guess its all part of the experience.
It will take some getting used to, but I think the place did need a little tidy up. Now we can just open that one thread and jump to the important threads to keep track of everything and point new members in the right direction.
