Just got hold of some DVDRips but I cant seem to play them on my Messiah Chipped PS2. All I get is a black screen with The Playstaion(r) logo.

Can Anyone help

DVDRip doesn't really tell anything. PS2 plays only DVD-Rs, AFAIK -- meaning that you need to have DVD writer (costs around $300) and DVD-R copies of movies.

when you say ps2 only plays dvd-r do you mean that I can't burn ps2 games with my dvd+r/rw writer??

That is correct, as far as I know -- haven't tested though, but read various reports from our users.
