Hello,
I need to convert some .mkv containers and I'd like to convert them to .divx container and I'd like to keep the subtitles from the .mkv. I want to do this process without any loss of quality. I'm currently using an application named sub2divx to create some .divx containers, but this app can take only .avi and .divx for input. Do you know a better application or any application at all to help me out with .mkvs?

thanks in advance for the help :D

'MKVExtract_GUI' can demux an mkv to elementary streams (including subtitles).
The application needs two files (mkvextract.exe and mkvmerge.exe)copied to the folder from 'MKVToolnix'.

To mux to AVI format, you can use 'AVIMux_GUI'
As you know, the mkv container has a range of audio and video formats contained within, eg RMVB, AAC which may or may not be suitable for an AVI container - and would need further conversion hence some loss of quality.

I don't know anything about .divx files - except that my DIVX player doesn't play them until I add the .avi extension.

Hello,
I've used MKV Extract to extract my mkv to simple streams, but I have a problem with the .h264 file AVIMux_GUI does not support this kind of files. Is there any other means to mux .h264 to avi along with my audio and subtitle streams? or at least is there any fast way to convert is AVIMux_GUI can read it ;) thanks in advance :)

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to change the container? What are you going to use to play the resulting AVI?

The reason I asked, for a Divx player, that will not work, just by changing the container. Standalone DIVX players do not have H.264 support from what I know, so you have to actually re-encode the video/audio.I don't know what mp4 player you have, if that supports H.264.

To convert the MKV ,to be played on a PS3, here's a guide:

To convert to an AVI that can be played on a Divx player, you can try AlltoAVI:

hey, thanks for the help :)
now I have another question. I have a blueray disk ripped on my HDD and I want to put it on my external HDD which is FAT32 so I need to split the large 13GB file to few smaller less than 4GB. If I do it with txmuxer will it work fine on a blueray player or ps3? or is there any special program to do that?
thanks for your time once again :)

Sorry couldn't be more helpful. Personally, I am more than satisfied with a good upconverter. It will be along, long time before I get into Blu Ray/HD(when it will, and if it will become mainstream, when I will be able to buy a player for less than $100 and a BR disc for less than $10). In my oppinion, I think the difference in quality is mostly psychologically perceived and present on paper anyway, the naked eye can't really tell the difference unless maybe you're staring at the sceen from less thasn 2 feet away!
