Help needed: TMPEnc 'no input' message

I'm fresh and new to the world of burning files unto DVD. Eager, but inexperienced.

I have a problem with an MPEG4/ AVI file and TMPEnc. Whenever I try to convert in TMPEnc to (any) format I can burn unto a DVD I get the following message:

"no input"

After that, the conversion simply fails.

I must be doing something wrong - I am sure. Anybody any advice?
