hi folks

new here

used independence compiler to burn a memory card exploit onto a cd

followed instructions to a t

was going to do that thing where it uses a ps1 disc to go directly to a program in the memory card

but the disc i burned using the iso from independence compiler doesn't load using swap magic 3 disc

i get that weird flickery purple border and nothing happens

i went to a friends house to try it on his ps2 and i got the same results using his ps2 and swap magic 3 disc. tried re burning several times

what am i doing wrong??

have a fat ps2 with hard drive

in my frustration i went ahead and bought the 'ultimate swap collection' disc from ps2cover. it's supposed to have lots of utilities for doing this sort of thing.

any advice?

hmm i wonder why?

swap magic "game" boot disc
swap magic quotes "boot 'GAME' programs on ur ps2 console"

well i just dont know i mean it sounds logical to boot a program not set up without a sony register code.

hmm i dont why it wouldnt work....

u need a modchip for a exploit disc!!!!

wow. thanks for your help.
it does work actually. as it turned out it was my copy of swap magic 3 that was the problem. I used another version and the discs booted just fine. no mod-chip needed, and now i use it all the time.

why would you think that swap magic wouldn't work for the independence compiler disc? yes it's a game disc, but that's what swap magic was made for! try google searching independence compiler and swap magic. it's all over the place.

so..in short...thanks for nothing.

oh, and for all those curious out there, it also helps to open your flip top (assuming you use one) and adjust the little white gear you see towards the back of the ps2. it adjusts the laser angle and could help with the pesky 'disk read error' thing. it worked for me. i turn the gear about a quarter turn to the left to play cds, and then back to its original position for dvds. works like a charm, very little hassle.
