duo 3 gold working then not working

i have a slim ps2 with duo 3 gold it was working great played all backups until one day i turned it on played god of war 2 then after that i wont read a single backup since only originals has anyone else have or had this problem and know how to fix it

It just suddenly stopped playing backups but works like normal? Either your chipped died or a wire came off the chip.

not sure but if i hold start i will say disabled but it wont enable itself

Unplugging power cord solves any issue of enable-disable,assuming the core duo's even have it as they seem quirky most of the time & have a mind of their own,best bet use a verbatim or some other good quality media ,do a backup then retry if that fails then it's pull PS2 apart & check for cold soldered joints or loose wire
