I ripped Apocalypto last night, and there were two options for English subtitles. Because apparently the movie does not have forced subtitles, I selected the smaller of the two English versions. As it turns out, what is present when I turn on subtitles is actually closed captioning...so that not only do I get the English translation from Mayan, but I also get stuff like [laughter] for the hearing impaired. Was my mistake in checking the second of the two subtitle options, or is there some other way to ensure that I get only subtitles and not closed captioning?
My second issue involves angles. I notice in some movies instead of just a Main Title, there are various "angle" options. I never even noticed this on regular dvd's honestly, though I did notice last night that on the display menu of my dvd player I can change angles if they are available. Should I only select one angle for maximumcompression, and if so, how do I know which angle to select?
