Hi everyone, I'm a newbie PSP owner.
I just got a PSP (fat, 1000) from ebay. it's a silver model from japan i'm assuming, since it's running asian FW
When i go to system information the FW it says is 3100EA-R+
Also if I click on anything like Portable TV it takes me to a japanese site.
When i tried to update it with the latest FW 3.93 it gave me the DADADA error.
If I restart holding R to get into the recoery menu i've got a lot of options such as registry hacks, cpu speed, advanced, and to "run program at x/psp/game/recovery/eboot.pbp even if i try to run the update via that it doesn't work.
Now I want the PSP to play SOME games, and to watch movies mainly. I don't mind if i have some sort of custom FW on here, but i would like to know what it is and what I can do with it. I'd also like to know how I can reinstall the OFW and upgrade it to 3.93.
Sorry if it's just me being completely stupid but the whole Asian FW code threw me off from the very beginning.
Also just went into Recovery Mode => Configuration
there i have the following options:
Back
Skip SCE logo
Hide corrupt icons
Game folder homebrew (currently: 1.50 kernel) *if i click x, it switches to 3.10 kernel.. no idea what this means*
Autorun program at ********/eboot.php
Use NO-UMD Fake Region
Free UMD Region

You are getting this error because you have CFW and are trying to install OFW. The DADADADA error is there to help make sure people do not lose their CFW by accidently hitting upgrade on a game.
