hello,
I tried to update my wii to 1.9s but it said error test connection failed. so that means I have a wiikey clone? if so is there any update I can do to play ssbm? I also tried the to take the disk out when before updating. That worked but I never heard homers voice. I did get a update sucessful please reboot on the screen but no homers voice and when I rebooted it still didnt play ssbm can anyone suggest anything?

You should not have to update anything for a GameCube game unless it needs the AudioFix. SSBM does not need it though.

I think you mean SSBB.

i also have the exact same problem, and i am pretty sure that i have a genuine wiikey because i got the hologram with it, and i know for sure that it the soldering was good.

i tried various ways of burning the update like:
non-file chopped and not in GCOS mode
filechopped with GCOS mode
Filechopped not in GCOS mode

none of these worked for me.

why don't you try these ways of burning the disc, and see if it works for you.
