Wii standby mode problem/USB charge station

Hi everyone.
I have a USB charge station for my Wii which only works when on standby mode, for some reason I can't get my Wii to go on standby mode again.

I recently had my Wii modded with d2ckey and not sure whether it's safe to go online with it so I have disabled my internet connection during standby, is that what is causing the problem?

My Wii is PAL and has a 3.2 firmware. Has anyone got any experience of going online to play games or updating firmware with d2ckey?

{I did search first but could not find anything on this}

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes that is your problem. You need to have Wiiconnect24 enabled in order for it to go into standby. If it isn't then it will go to red led and turn completely off.

It is perfectly fine to have it enabled even if it has a Modchip.
