go to recovery and select no umd in the config options... try the downloaded games and see if any will run... I've found MOST games will but some won't...this will tell you if your downloads are good or bad. If some/all of the down loads run with no UMD option selected then I'd suspect your UMD drive is dead...you could try cleaning the eye but it probably won't help.

OK?I assumed that you had some form of CFW since you?re in the mod and firmware discussion forum. Anyway, without CFW downloads obviously won?t work. Take your PSP to a repair shop if you have one local and have then check out the UMD drive... my guess is that it has died.

It's just a matter of replacing the drive. I have lot's of spare's for a fat PSP. My location is in my sig. If your willing to pay shipping I can fix it for you and put custom firmware on it.

The low cost alternative is to forget about your UMD drive altogether and just get cfw installed.

That way you could just play isos/csos off your ms as well as opening up the world of homebrew. Benefits include potentially longer battery life and no umds to carry about - you could get up 10 or so games on a 4gig ms, which are getting pretty cheap these days.

All good.

Apologies Rickem if this has taken potential work away from you regarding the fitting of a new drive.
