Hi Carolyn and welcome to AD. You'll have to explain your problem in a little more detail for us to be able to help you. What type of file are you working with and what are you trying to do with it?

Now you know I'm computer illiterate, but I'm learning. I recently downloaded this awesome all-n-one vista codec pack. A new world opened up for me. But there were encrypted downloads I couldn't access. So, naturally I figured there might be an all-n-one vista decryptor. Ok so you know more than me. Help me out!

Still don't have a clue what you are talking about. What are you trying to download and from where? Please provide a link.

Ok, since we last talked, the guy that fixes my computer says, "people put encryption codes on these videos so will give them money to see the movie and I could spend a fortune encrypting every movie I wanted to see." I said, baloney, I know computer geeks that can do anything. Did I put my foot in my mouth?
I usually get one of the following messages:
1)Content Blocked. This media file can only be played by Dom player.
2)Incompatible media player.
3)File Encrypted visit www.torrentpassword.org
4)Content Blocked visit movie-help.com to unblock
I hope this is helpful.
Is there a 'universal' media player that decrypts or unblocks?

A word of advice...ALL the torrent sites that you have downloaded from are 2nd rate....they want you to either join their site...download dodgy DOM player have a password or something else. A good quality torrent site does NOT carry on with all that rubbish....all you get is good quality downloads which are easy to burn to DVD...most of them will be in AVI format....
Check out http://www.torrentz.com/ or http://www.mininova.org/ just to mention 2...there are many more but you dont need to join either of these sites and rarely will you find any of the problems that the others have thrown at you.

A word of warning

1)Content Blocked. This media file can only be played by Dom player.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS

^ Agree. You'll need to use better torrent sites. Stay away from those second rate junk torrents with crappy downloads.

@LOCO and iluvendo...is Rotary going to have to seperate you two?

As mentioned in my previous post, most movies will be in AVI format...there are several programs that you can use to convert and burn these files to DVD...my choice is NeroVision which is an application contained in Nero...heres a basic guide on how I convert and burn my AVI files.

Rip

Apart from meaning Rest In Peace in the real world, Rip has a very different meaning concerning digital media. To Rip something is to make a copy of it from a source. For example, an CDA disc can be "ripped" to MP3 tracks on a HDD, or a DVD-Video compilation can be ripped from a DVD disc onto a HDD. Ripping from a DVD is almost always considered as describing bypassing copy protection systems to copy unencrypted content to a HDD.
