Everytime I use any converting program my computer freezes. I have no way to check my temperature of my cpu. It only freezes when I try to convert, don't matter what converting program I use still the same result. Any help will help

If I had to take a wild guess, I'd say is overheating.Transcoding is very CPU intensive. When my fan was broken , the PC sometimes would freeze, sometimes would just power off/on.
Try what attar suggested. Run the monitoring software and see if the temperature starts rising when you start the conversion.
Check the cooling fan(s), dust them off...

before I satrt converting it is 37c 98f and after is the same is that normal or is it overheating. when I open my tower I can bearly hear the fan on the heatsink run but it is running

I was using cpuid hardware monitor and the results said hdd 36c 96f I don't know if that means the temp for the hard drive or the cpu. And another thing when I format my drive after everything is installed my computer runs slower then it should. I do alot of downloading but I use spysweeper and ca assioates anti virus and hardly catch anything. My specs are intel p4 2.80 1g of ram 320g hard drive

Use some good antivirus program. as you say you download a lot of stuff then u might be using usb drives or cds to transfer them. Always ensure that you scan the secondary storage media like usb, pen drives and cds before exploring and working on them.

Seems its a hard to catch virus which has attacked and is not resolved even after formatting... backup data bro before doing anything nasty..

I think your problem is something else.

1.) Is your hard drive DMA setup correctly?

2.) you might want to disable the thumbnails on windows explorer for video files (that will definitely cause the computer to freeze or crash).

3.) I would look into your antispyware programs, those are very bloated and might be causing some sort of conflict. There are 2 programs that I know will cause issues with some conversion programs, ultraISO and windowsblinds I'm sure there are others.

an overheating cpu or any type of cpu problem will be very low in the list of whats causing your problems.
