Hi there - I am looking for software - basically I only do some home vids, with files from a JVC Everio. It came with Cyberlink - is this the only s/w that handles the .MOD files created? I have used Arcsoft Showbiz in the past.
Just looking for something good, easy to use, creating disks with video and sometimes photos.
Is there any s/w that will shrink what you have down to the size of a DVD, with minimal quality loss?

Thanks in advance..........

I share your pain. I have tried all the free download versions of Cyberlink software - no joy. Even though Cyberlink rates best at http://video-editing-software-review.toptenreviews.com. I can't get any Cyberlink product to build menus that work. Ulead (rated second) evidently doesn't even do menues (per that review link). And Pinnacle doesn't support switching between 16:9 and 4:3 (per that review link). It shouldn't be this hard to spend money on software.

I guess I have't really helped - except to say you're not alone and I'll track this thread to see if anyone has a winner.

Why don't you try dvd-flick or dvd-styler?

Spend nothing!!.. If you need to change formats etc then avidemux is the babe.. FOSS is the future.

For dvd slideshows I don't do them.. but apparently nero has a very good tool built in.

I'll check out those varnell mentions - free is a really good price. However, I must take back any bad thing I said about Ulead based on the review I read. I downloaded the free trial of Ulead Videostudio 11. So far so good. It appears to do everything I wanted and zero crashes so far.
